Houston's Best Disc Golf Courses Ranked

Disc Golf is AMAZING in Houston Texas

Best Disc Golf Courses in Houston

Houston, Texas plays host to some of the best Disc Golf Courses in Texas. Here is a locals guide to the top 5 courses in the H-Town Area...

5. Northside Christian Church

UDISC Rating: 4.6/5

Address: 20250 Kuykendahl Road, Spring, TX 77379

Notes: Hole 1 on creek between parking lot and the church

Breakdown: An unfortunate theme of in the Houston Disc Golf scene is the travel it takes to get to the courses that are really worth a damn, especially if you are staying or live in the City of Houston. This is a beautiful beginner friendly course that is fun for experts alike, and the only reason it is not higher on the list is the distance it is from the population centers. For me, I've played it a couple times but it is truly too much of a pain to get to from my house in west Houston to be worth going to except on the rare occasion. However, if you are in that area and or enjoy time in the car this course is truly a hidden gem. Fun technical holes, rippers, and everything in between. Intermediate golfers will have no problem picking up a few birdies, but the course does trap you into some simple mistakes that can be lethal to the scorecard if you are not a confident scrambler. Check this place out on a lazy weekend if you live in Houston and you will not regret it.

Pro Tip: If you play ball golf, there are a ton of great place to play in the Spring Area including Golf Club of Houston, Blackhorse, Tour18, and many others. I'd recommend playing a round of both and making a day of it.

4. Spring Valley DGC

UDISC Rating: 4.1/5

Address: 25110 Gosling Rd, Spring, TX, 77389

Notes: Gotta pay $5; Stocked out pro shop

Breakdown: There are a lot of layouts and people playing ball golf (on what looks like one of the worst courses in Texas if I may add) so it can be pretty overwhelming. For a place that makes you pay the layout was pretty confusing to figure out and the signage was pretty whack. When Spring Valley is in tournament condition it is one of the best in Texas, playing host to the 2018 Texas State Championships. With long bomber par 5's and crazy finesse technical holes this course has it all, I just wish it did not take me so many times to figure it out. Spring Valley shares the same complaint I have against Northside where it is so far away I struggle to find motivation to drive out there instead of the other courses on this list.

Pro Tip: Stick to UDISC and try not to spend a whole paycheck on plastic....

3. Brock Park

UDISC Rating: 4.5/5

Address: 8201 John Ralston Rd, Houston, TX, 77044

Notes: Newest course in Houston. Brimming with potential and a sick facility. Park style.

Breakdown: Not much to complain about Houston's newest disc golf course. Located along Greens Bayou this park style course features many fun shots, with picturesque greens and very well maintained fairways built along the old Brock Park Golf Course. It is a pretty long walk as it is the old golf course but it is well worth it. So much to like about this place from the variety to the scenery. I believe there is potential for PDGA layouts and I suspect from some of the manmade peninsulas into the lakes and bayous the city might have that in mind as well. I have been 5 times since it opened in 2021 and have never seen more than two other groups there. I highly recommend every Houston discer to get out there and play, it could soon become your favorite course.

Pro Tip: Use UDisc to help with parking, sometimes the gate is closed (don't worry, you can still play) but you need to park on a street by hole 7 (Valley Pine I think)

2. Texas Army Trail

UDISC Rating: 4.5/5

Address: 11961 Telge Rd, Houston, Tx 77429

Notes: Bring bugspray, lots of bugspray

Breakdown: A true Texas treasure. Texas Army Trail in my opinion is the Most Houston of all the courses in town. What do I mean by that? Built on a storm drainage ponds and winding through the pine forest along Cypress Creek, you are stepping into a time portal before the progress of man nearly our cities forests and getting a glimpse of OG Houston. This course is brutally hard and extremely wet so bear that in mind. Come out with the goal of having fun and not setting the world on fire, drink a few beers, and enjoy some random nature in an unnatural city.

Pro Tip: Leave your ego at home.

1. Evergreen DGC

UDISC Rating: 4.6/5

Address: 1530 Evergreen Rd, Baytown, TX, 77523

Breakdown: Iconic Texas disc golf course built on an abandoned golf course along the shores of Tabbs Bay. Think about bringing a few extra discs because this course is devastatingly difficult, and I definitely wouldn't recommend it to beginners. Even though it's a little far it is well worth it. You will feel it everywhere after a round here, but the match will fly by because of how much you enjoy every single home. Mostly park style bombers, sneaky hazards everywhere, and almost no breaks on the wind.

Pro Tip: Watch out for gators!
